1106 W. Platt Street
Tampa, FL 33606
Tampa Lighthouse for the Blind serves over 600 individuals ages infant through elderly and their families each year. Our primary goal is to help the blind and newly blind individual to gain or regain their safety and ability to remain living in their own homes, and to regain financial independence through the many rehabilitation and workforce training programs designed especially for the blind and visually impaired adult, and to help the blind or visually impaired child or teen to succeed in school, at home, and in the community. Our mission is to maximize independence and provide employment opportunities for persons who are blind or visually impaired. Tampa Lighthouse for the Blind, incorporated as a non-profit 501 c 3 agency in 1940, consistently demonstrates its ability to continue to meet the emerging needs of the service population as evidenced by its growth in program components over the years. The first private agency for the blind in Florida to become nationally accredited by the National Accreditation Council for Agencies Serving People with Blindness or Visual Impairment (NAC), Tampa Lighthouse is the only private, non-profit agency in Hillsborough County that provides on-site rehabilitation and vocational training specifically for blind and visually impaired persons.
