KnowHow2GO is a national college-access campaign being implemented in Tampa Bay; Hillsborough County. The campaign helps young people - particularly low-income students - those who are first in their families to pursue higher education - navigate the complex process of preparing for college.

%newline%KnowHow2GO simplified the college-going process into four simple steps that students can follow with the help of their parents or other adult mentors. The steps are listed below:

%newline%Step 1: Find Someone to Help - Let everyone know that you're going to college and need their help.

%newline%Step 2: Push Yourself - Working a little harder today will make getting into college even easier. Take the tough classes in high school; you will need them for college.

%newline%Step 3: Find the Right Fit - Find out what kind of school is the best match for you and your career goals.

%newline%Step 4: Put Your Hands on Some Cash - If you think you can't afford college, think again! There's lots of aid and scholarships out there.

%newline%KnowHow2Go Tampa Bay has two components; media campaign and a ground campaign.

%newline%The media campaign seeks to reach young people in their own language and through trusted media. In addition to an interactive student-focused Web site, MySpace and Facebook pages and print materials available in both English and Spanish, the campaign has created a series of public service announcements for TV, radio and outdoor spaces.

%newline%The ground campaign consists of system-wide sites and local college access sites. The system-wide sites include Hillsborough County School District, Hillsborough County Public Library System and Stavros Institute - Finance Park. Our local college access sites include a variety of youth organizations spanning Hillsborough County.

%newline%The purpose of these sites are to strengthen the quality of student assistance and outreach efforts to first generation students as they explore pathways to college, to provide accurate college information and guidance and to encourage student persistence in fulfilling their college dreams.

%newline%KnowHow2Go Tampa Bay is active within the community educating students, parents, mentors on the steps students need to take in middle and high school to realize their college aspirations.
