Death by ChocolateFriday, December 04, 2009Sweet in so many ways, the delectable, mouth-watering Death by Chocolate event is an annual fundraiser that attracts approximately 1,000 attendees. All-you-can-eat chocolate creations from some of the area's finest restaurants, chefs, caterers, and confectioners are featured. Complimentary champagne, an outstanding silent auction, and live entertainment are also offered at this unique event. As an added attraction, Largo Central Park will be lit with more than 250,000 holiday lights! Come join us for a good cause! Founded on Rotary's motto of \"Service Above Self,\" funds raised from Death by Chocolate will allow the Rotary Club of Largo to continue to directly benefit the needs of Pinellas County youth programs. Over the years, the club has donated more than $275,000 to local youth. With your help, we anticipate raising an additional $30,000 through this event in 2009! $20 per person in advance/ $25 per person at the door. Calling All Chocolate Lovers!LARGO – Calling all chocolate lovers; it’s that time of year again. The Rotary Club of Largo’s annual fundraiser, Death by Chocolate, will be Friday, Dec. 5, 7 to 9 p.m., at the Largo Cultural Center. More than 25 local businesses and restaurants, including candy and pastry shops, will be offering chocolates of all kinds to more than 1,000 attendees, according to the Rotary Club. A silent auction, door prizes and entertainment also will be featured. The event raises more than $25,000 annually for local programs. This year marks the 13th year of Death by Chocolate. “It is the absolute best way to get into the spirit of the holidays,” said Woody Brown, a member of the Rotary Club’s board of directors, in an e-mail. “Eating wonderful desserts, drinking some champagne and enjoying the company and business associates all while raising a lot of money for kids.
